History of the Town of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, to the year 1836

The author compiled this history from proprietors' books, town records and the papers of another early historian, Nathaniel Wood, Esq. This volume contains detailed physical descriptions of the area comprising Fitchburg and Lunenburg, the first settlers' struggles with the new land and the Indians, early businesses and their manufactures, schools and education, taxes, wars, prominent town citizens, church history and more. An appendix with lists of political representatives and a newly compiled full-name index complete the work. This is a straight-forward, easy-to-read historical reference.
