Alan MacDonald in Senior Lecturer in Scottish History at the University of Dundee. Previous books include The Jacobean Kirk, 1567-1625: Sovereignty, Polity and Liturgy (Routledge, 1998) and The Burghs and Parliament in Scotland, c.1550-1651 (Ashgate, 2016). He was co-editor of the three-volume The History of the Scottish Parliament (EUP, 2004-2010). Keith Brown is Professor of History at the University of Manchester. He specializes in early modern Scottish History, particularly the history of parliament and of the nobility.
