Over the past twenty-five years, a new subfield of economics has emerged: Identity Economics. The Handbook chapters review the theory of identity economics, its many empirical domains where the framework has been applied, as well as experimental studies. These applications include caste, culture, gender, nationalism, norms, race, religion, self-image, social preferences, and nature of organizations.
