[Editor-1]Dr. Khaliduzzaman obtained his PhD (optical sensing technology for egg) from Kyoto University, Japan. Currently, he is working as a specially appointed assistant professor at the graduate school of information science, University of Hyogo, Japan. Previously, he was JSPS Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Kyoto University and at Agri-Innovation Education and Research Center in Akita Prefectural University, Japan. He did his Master, Ph.D. and JSPS Postdoc in Bio-Sensing Engineering (major in egg research) from Kyoto University, Japan. During his Ph.D. studies, he has opened a new research domain in scientific world in the field of non-destructive chicken egg research and pioneered the embryo grading concept by keeping in mind the global animal food security and to feed the future generation. He has been awarded Young Researcher Encouragement Award by Kansai Branch of Japanese Society of Agricultural Machinery and Food Engineers for his remarkable contribution in egg research. Currently, his research interest is on application of optical sensors and information sciences for agricultural sciences specially for egg industry. He is the editor of the book Informatics in Poultry Production published by Springer. He conducted post-doctoral research at The University of Tokyo, Japan, and the University of California, Davis (UC Davis). He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). He has more than fourteen years of research experience on non-destructive optical sensing techniques. He has extensive documented records of authorship on hyperspectral imaging for meat quality, authenticity, and adulteration detection. His many scholarly works have become standard reference materials for researchers in hyperspectral imaging for meat quality, authenticity, and adulteration detection. He was one of the highly cited researchers in 2019 by Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters). At UIUC, he applies optical sensing technologies such as computer vision, spectroscopy, and hyperspectral imaging in tandem with chemometrics and machine learning to address the sustainability of bioprocessing technologies to promote the sustainable use of renewable resources. He also works on novel and innovative process routes for rapid and real-time characterization and quality assessment/control of bioproducts/bioprocesses to improve food security, quality, safety, and nutrition, while simultaneously accounting for environmental and socio-economic impacts. He serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Biosystems Engineering.
