Timm Heinbokel was initially trained as a physician-scientist, with his subsequent medical career divided between experimental research in transplant immunology and clinical work in anatomic pathology as well as nephrology. He went on to earn a Ph.D. in Divinity, studying the interrelation of natural philosophy and literary theory in early Greek-speaking Patristic authors. He is currently complementing these studies with doctoral work in philosophy, focused on the history and philosophy of science and medicine, at the University of Notre Dame.
