Yannis Tzioumakis is reader in film and media industries at the University of Liverpool (United Kingdom). He is the author of five books, most recently Acting Indie: Industry, Aesthetics, Performance (co-authored with Cynthia Baron; Palgrave, 2020), and co-editor of six collections of essays, most recently United Artists (Routledge, 2020). He is currently co-editing the collection Indie TV: Industry, Aesthetics and Medium Specificity for Routledge, while authoring a book on Hollywood films in Greece in the 1950s and 1960s. He has also published articles in several journals, including Screen; Film History; Velvet Light Trap; New Review of Film and Television Studies; International Journal of Media and Cultural Politics; and Studies in Documentary Film. She has published extensively on different aspects of Greek and Balkan cinema, often with an emphasis on industry-related questions and in areas such as (digital) film (and television) distribution, co-productions, film festivals and documentary. She is the author of The Greek Film Musical (2006) and co-editor of Greek Cinema: Texts, Forms and Identities (2011). She is principal editor of the Journal of Greek Media and Culture and has co-edited a number of special issues, including for ‘New Review of Film and Television Studies’. Her journal publications have appeared in Screen; Studies of European Cinema; International Journal of Media Management; New Review of Film and Television Studies, among others.
