Globalization, Export Orientated Employment and Social Policy

SHAHRA RAZAVI is Research Coordinator at the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD) where she has coordinated research projects on a diverse range of topics within the field of gender and development. Her recent books include "Gender Justice, Development and Rights" (ed.); "Gender, Poverty, and Well-being" (ed.); and "Missionaries and Mandarins: Feminist Engagement with Development Institutions" (eds.) with Carol Miller RUTH PEARSON has been a prominent scholar of women's changing role in the global economy for over 20 years. Her published work includes the path-breaking analysis of "Nimble Fingers" in export processing employment, as well as studies of export sectors in Latin America and Britain. She is an expert on gender and economic policy both in the international and the national spheres. Ruth Pearson is currently Professor of Development Studies at the School of Politics and International Studies at the University of Leeds in the UK. CAROLINE DANLOY is a Research Assistant at the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD), Geneva.
