Governing tech platforms is one of the most pressing policy issues of our time. Appreciating the various contexts around the world in which people’s rights, livelihoods, safety and politics are impacted by decisions made on continents far removed, is essential. Similarly, solutions found anywhere may inspire and inform much more broadly. In fact, a number of harms now hitting home in Europe and the United States could have been prevented by learning more of the experiences about the world’s least empowered citizens and the platforms developed by the most privileged people on earth. A highly urgent and relevant book.
