She was a European Account Executive with part of the Jefferson Smurfit Group plc in North Wales (1991-1993). She received an M.A. in Translation Studies from University College Cork (1994) and a Ph.D. from Aston University (2000). Since 1996 she has been a Lecturer in German for Business at the School of Languages & European Studies, Aston University, Birmingham.
