Gender Outline: Precocious Brian Chalmers first rescues then seduces Ann Landers in South Australia. Ann and Julia Childers, later Jules or Julius, tutor Hazara Afghan girls whose brothers attacked Ann. She urges Julia Childers to become boy Jules. Hector/ Hec's IT company wins a tender to develop software on chronic youth unemployment in the Marianas, where Glen joins ' her ', along with Aline, a Micronesian-descended girl programme writer, and Jules' mother Eileen. They are contracted to start an industrial estate. Jules, fitted with a penis and having survived blood poisoning. gathers Ann and a Vietnamese girl Angh, a classmate, as his consorts.
