Mukuna Patrick Mubiayi is a C3 NRF-rated researcher (established researcher) by the National Research Foundation (NRF), South Africa. Reviewed funding proposals for the National Research Foundation since 2018. He works on friction stir welding (FSW), friction stir spot welding (FSSW), and friction stir processing (FSP), and has published a book on friction stir welding and friction stir spot welding. He is supervising students in the Mechanical Engineering and Chemistry departments on advanced manufacturing and water treatment, respectively. He is a senior lecturer at the University of South Africa with the Institute for Nanotechnology and Water Sustainability (iNanoWS), focusing on the processing, development, and characterization of sustainable materials for the removal of pollutants in water and wastewater. Member of the Nanostructured Thematic Area at iNanoWS. Specialise in materials characterisation for various applications. Working on the design of water treatment systems, combining various water treatment techniques for the removal of pollutants in water and wastewater. Holder of a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering Science (University of Johannesburg) and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering technology from the University of Johannesburg (South Africa). Holder of a Bachelor of Engineering in Electro-Mechanical at the University of Lubumbashi (Democratic Republic of Congo). He has been and is a guest editor for special issues (MDPI). He is a member of The South African Institution of Mechanical Engineering (SAIMechE): From 2019 to date, and the International Association of Engineers (IAENG) from August 2012 to date.
