Educated in Ireland, France, and the USA, Desmond M. Clarke has taught in Ohio, Michigan, and Ireland, and has been a Jean Monnet fellow at the European University Institute. He is the recipient of a Fulbright fellowship, and a CNRS visiting fellowship, having recently participated in joint research projects with the Ecoles normales supérieures, Lyon and Paris. Clarke has published widely on Irish constitutional law and human rights law. His most recent book with OUP is The Equality of the Sexes: Three Feminist Texts of the Seventeenth Century (2013).
