Frankenstein: The Modern Prometheus is a bold and accessible retelling of Mary Shelley’s timeless classic, specially adapted for modern young readers. Retold by Pauline Francis, this gripping edition follows Victor Frankenstein’s dangerous ambition to create life—and the devastating consequences that follow.

Written in clear, engaging language and structured for readability, this version brings one of literature’s most powerful and enduring stories to a new generation. While remaining faithful to the emotional depth and gothic intensity of the original, it presents the narrative in a way that supports both independent reading and classroom use.

Part of the Express Classics series, this edition goes beyond the story to offer a richer, more interactive reading experience. Readers are supported from the very first page with character introductions and a reader-friendly opening, while carefully designed features throughout the book deepen understanding and engagement.

Additional elements include “Did You Know?” facts that reveal fascinating insights into the story and its origins, as well as activities and prompts that encourage reflection and discussion. Extended back matter reinforces key themes and supports learning, while QR-linked content connects readers to further exploration beyond the book.

Atmospheric, cinematic illustrations run throughout, inspired by the original 1831 artwork of Theodor von Holst, blending classic gothic tradition with a modern visual style to enhance the reading experience.
