Recensioner i media
This fascinating collection demonstrates how the figure of the First Lady occupies a complex place in the American political and cultural imaginary, at once ‘first’ yet always an unelected supplement to executive power. Addressing a wide range of media representations, the essays explore how the position of First Lady has served to variously reproduce, challenge, or reimagine conventional gender roles and expectations.
