An accomplished sailor, Marshall has competed at all levels of racing, including 5 Fastnet races, 11 Bermuda races, and the 1997 Atlantic Challenge from New York to Falmouth, England (placing third). Author of more than 600 magazine articles, he is a six-time Boating Writers International award winner and chair of the publications committee for the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers.
