Feminist Activism in Resistance analyses the work and activism of women’s organizations in Kosovo since the late 1980s and early 1990s up to 2019. By looking at their socio-political agency, development, features and contributions, the book draws a genealogy of these women’s organizations. This book covers four key dimensions: the relationship between ‘non-violent’ resistance and peacebuilding; the analysis of its gender dimensions; the analysis of the activism in favour of women’s rights within the framework of violent and non-violent conflicts; and its relationship with the international liberal peacebuilding architecture and mechanisms. Although the relationship between women’s organizations and international organisms in post-war contexts is complex and multidirectional, the book focuses on the dynamics of international cooperation with these groups, and resisting dynamics women's organizations have developed, precisely towards international intervening agents and their funding dynamics. This book will interest students, researchers and academics of International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies, Security Studies, Development Studies, and Gender Studies, especially those with a particular interest in the political and social development of the Balkans and/or Kosovo over the past few decades.
