Fast After 50, Second Edition

It’s never too late to get—and stay—fit! Fast After 50, now completely updated with the latest science on aging and exercise, is for every endurance athlete who wants to stay on the top of their game for years to come.

For runners, cyclists, triathletes, swimmers, rowers, skiers, and all dedicated athletes, getting older doesn’t have to mean getting slower. Drawing from the most current research on aging, longevity, and sports performance, Joe Friel—America’s leading endurance sports coach—shows how athletes can train smart, race strong, and stay healthy well past age 50.

Alongside guidelines for high-intensity workouts, targeted strength training, recovery, crosstraining, and nutrition for high performance, Friel has updated Fast After 50 to include:

• New research on how to effectively build fitness with low-intensity training along with limited amounts of high-intensity training
• Updated crosstraining tips and plans to boost aerobic endurance without the risk of injury
• Stories from “super agers” who have excelled in their sport at an advanced age
• A chapter on “Beyond the Fifties” to keep athletes informed on how to stay in the race as they age up
• And so much more!

In Fast After 50, Joe Friel shows athletes that age is just a number. Athletes of any age can extend their racing careers for decades—and race to win.
