In Excavations at Tall Jawa, Jordan, Volume 5, the authors present their research in the areas of regional survey, salvage excavation, zooarchaeology, ceramic typology, experimental archaeology and ethnoarchaeology. This work illustrates areas threatened and later destroyed by modern development and is a contribution to heritage documentation. These studies illuminate aspects of family and town life in the Iron Age, Roman, Byzantine and Late Ottoman–Early Mandate periods in central Jordan.

She has directed and published three volumes on the excavations at Tall Jawa, Jordan (2002, 2003, 2010), and directs the Wadi ath-Thamad Project of excavation and survey in northern Moab. James R. Battenfield, Ph.D. was Supervisor of the Madaba Plains Project Survey in 1989 and subsequently a team member of the Tall Jawa Project.Susan Ellis, Ph.D was a team members of the Tall Jawa Project and director of ethnographic research.Peter R. W. Popkin, Ph.D. (University College London) was a supervisor at Khirbat al-Mudayna (Thamad) and responsible for analysis of the faunal collections from Tall Jawa and Mudayna Thamad.
