Artificial intelligence (AI) is currently considered a disruptive key technology in the field of biomedical engineering. However, there is more to it than just the applications, advantages and challenges of AI in this field. The book takes a closer look at various additional aspects and provides a more comprehensive view of AI in healthcare.The first part provides introductory considerations from a historical, technical, socio-scientific, legal and ethical perspectives. Complementing this, the second part illustrates these topics using various applications in the field of biomedical engineering. These cannot be covered exhaustively, but a broad overview is provided and the relevant challenges are addressed.
