‘Young children are frequently overlooked as victims of inequalities in education. In this impressive book Hill and Robertson have brought together key authors who address social justice in the primary school from a number of critical perspectives. For both teachers and academics this book is a call to action going beyond mere platitudes. It reminds us that children are often first in line to experience the inequities of global injustice and relocates them at the centre of radical emancipatory projects.'  John Preston, Reader in Lifelong Learning, Competitiveness and Social Cohesion, Institute of Education, University of London, UK
