Andrew Downie was a foreign correspondent in Brazil for twenty years. His sports writing has appeared in The Sunday Times, GQ, Esquire, The Economist, The New York Times and the Guardian. He is the author of Doctor Socrates which has been translated into five languages. His second book, The Greatest Show on Earth was shortlisted for best football book at the 2022 Sports Book of the Year awards.
