"…Berger displays an impressive ability to work within both Indian and Chinese philosophical traditions and to treat each on its own terms. His work clearly and convincingly articulates the manner in which South Asian traditions and their concept of the 'luminous mind' significantly influenced Chinese Buddhism and later medieval Confucianism. The book is an exceptional piece of cross-cultural philosophy which is sure to promote enriched dialogue between representatives of South and East Asian philosophical traditions." — Dao
