Brian L. Davies is Associate Professor of History at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He specializes in Russian History as well as early modern European, Ottoman, and Central Asian history. He has published State Power and Community in Early Modern Russia (Palgrave MacMillan), and Warfare, State and Society on the Black Sea Steppe, 1500-1700 (Routledge), and recently contributed two chapters to The Cambridge History of Russia.
