"This book discusses the utility, safety, technical considerations, and cost-effectiveness of laparoscopy, particularly in the emergent setting where the open approach has been the standard of care. ... This book, focusing on the evidence comparing minimally invasive with open approaches, particularly in terms of safety in the critically ill patient, is particularly useful to younger surgeons who may be most adept at bridging this gap. No current book provides such a concise and current review of evidence regarding emergency laparoscopy." (Angela K. Stork, Doody's Book Reviews, January, 2017)
