He shared the 1977 Nobel Prize for Physics, awarded for his research work in this field.Edward Davis is Emeritus Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Leicester and Distinguished Research Fellow in the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy at the University of Cambridge.
