East/West Database Workshop

This volume contains papers presented at the 2nd International East/West Database Workshop, held in Klagenfurt, Austria, from 25-28 September 1994. The theme of the workshop was the breaking down of borders - both political, by bringing together researchers from the East and West - and scientific. Among the specific topics covered are: information engineering; data models and database standards; applications and interfaces; query optimization; and security. The papers present important new results in many areas of database research, and will be of interest to researchers and postgraduate students involved in all aspects of this field.
