Prof. Bogdan Mihai is a faculty member at the University of Bucharest's Faculty of Geography, Department of Geomorphology-Pedology-Geomatics, since 1995. He earned his PhD in Geography in 2003 with a thesis on mountain regional development in the Timis Basin. His research includes mountain risks, regional development, and remote sensing applications, with research stages in France and Sweden. He has supervised 19 theses and has been a visiting professor at the University of Lausanne since 2015. A full member of the Science for the Carpathians Steering Committee since 2016, he coordinated the CIVIS Transmount course in 2024. His main interests are remote sensing, land use change detection, natural hazard modeling, and applied mountain geography. He has led research projects on forest fire susceptibility and soil erosion using remote sensing data.
