In his foreword, the Duke of Kent, the Trust's [Dresden Trust] royal patron, says that this has been produced in order 'to recall the greatness of Dresden's past, to remember its devastation and to inform and inspire, as the work of recreating its physical, social and cultural fabric forges ahead'. This it surely does in a most informative manner. German History [The book is] a celebration of Dresden's cultural life, past, present and future and as such is successful. Nicola Lambourne in History
