Selected for the CBC October 2024 Hot Off The Press List."Unlike many nonfiction books, these seem designed more for personal perusal than for academic use, as they lack standard text features such as a table of contents, index, and so on. Readers won’t miss these details, though. Fans of animals, graphic novels, and fun facts are likely to thoroughly enjoy this series." —Booklist"DO FISH GO FISHING?: HOW ANIMALS EAT is a great introduction to animals and nature for younger readers. The illustrations are cute and cartoon-y, but I did feel like the text was a bit cluttered with the images. The speech bubbles and pictures add a bit of humor to the book which brought a smile to my daughter's face. I do like how the author incorporated animals that you don't hear much about like platypuses and moose. Final Verdict: Overall, this is a great introduction to animals and their habits for children aged three and up. The illustrations are appropriate and geared toward a younger audience to entertain and engage them." —Bethany Wicker, YA Books Central"Verdict: This is not only a fun introduction to a variety of animal diets, it's also a great car ride or waiting room book, something that offers lots of interest for kids to pore over while they wait, finding new details in the pictures and additional facts to share. A fun addition to most library collections." —Jean Little Library"Aimed at the young lap-reader, this 28-page delight has busy, detailed illustrations that should keep your audience busy finding new things to focus on, and give you a chance to engage them in learning the well-selected, carefully calibrated information about the feeding habits of the charismatic critters Author Bartíková has chosen to introduce kidlets to the world of science. Your kid/grand/nibling might just get the spark of science love from this sort of fun and informative presentation, and it's a great hour's down-for-a-nap laptime read." —Richard Derus, Blogger"Busy cartoon illustrations are packed full of facts about how different animals eat, plus silly dialogue and text in all capital letters. How do platypuses eat? How about moose? Kids will learn about eleven animals and their diets, biomes, and other eating habits." —Imagination Soup Blog"This clever collection of titles is ideal for animal lovers of all ages. Each double page spread features an animal, surrounded by interesting and insightful information about their habitats, eating, and sleeping habits. Whimsical illustrations elevate the humor of the already comical narratives, making this an appealing choice for a wide variety of ages. An engaging and educational introduction to amazing animals." —Olivia the Librarian, IG
