“Dissident Identities brings together an extraordinary range of scholarly and creative voices to insist that Afro-queer aesthetics are not simply matters of representation, but forms of ethical, spiritual, and political knowledge. Across visual art, performance, new media, film, and poetry, the volume foregrounds relation, embodiment, care, and refusal as modes of world-making that emerge from Afro-diasporic Caribbean histories and lived experience.”—Joshua Deckman, author of Feminist Spiritualities: Conjuring Resistance in the Afro-Caribbean and Its Diasporas“An urgent and timely contribution to an often-understudied aspect of Black Latinx Caribbean life, the queer folks who make the political and intellectual labor of art, culture, dance, music, performance.”—Paul J. López Oro, author of Indigenous Blackness: The Queer World-Making Politics of Garifuna Nueva York
