'The timely publication of this book is essential in covering an existing gap in the literature on subjects related to the direct conversion of heat energy into electricity... Fundamental principles are covered in a manner easily understood by the non-expert. The subjects are presented with enough in-depth information to stimulate interest in reading and further investigation. The material content is at a level that woud allow the reader to follow current research publications on these subjects.' P. J. Karditsas, Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Vol. 211 Part A, 1997 ' The presentation of the material is straghtforward; the figures are legible and put forward their message. ...this book is a valuable addition to the engineering literature, and I would recommend it for use by postgraduate or senior undergraduate students specializing in thermal-fluid sciences or energy conversion, as well as for professional engineers who want a thorough introductin to direct energy conversoin methods.' P. J. Karditsas, Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Vol. 211 Part A, 1997 '...in-depth introduction for graduate students and practising engineers...'
