John Johnson-Allen is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and the Royal Institute of Navigation, Chairman of the Institute of Seamanship and is a Liveryman of the Honourable Company of Master Mariners.John Johnson-Allen was a navigating officer in the Merchant Navy for nine years, joining his first ship as an apprentice at the age of 16. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, the Royal Institute of Navigation, and the Institute of Seamanship. He has written articles for various historical journals and is the author of six books including They Were Just Skulls and ‘Rosy’ Wemyss, Admiral of the Fleet.
