Laura Hartmann graduated from the University of Bonn, Germany in October 2024 with a PhD in English and American Literature and Culture. Previously, she completed her BA in English Studies (major) and Romance Studies (minor) and her MA in English Literatures and Cultures, also at Bonn University. During her BA, she spent two semesters abroad at the University of Sheffield, UK. She is currently working as coordinator of the PhD Program and Press and PR coordinator at the Bonn Center for Dependency and Slavery Studies, a research cluster within the Excellence Strategy of the German federal and state governments. Her research interests include crime and detective writing, early modern captivity narratives, 18th- and 19th-century British literature, and the history and culture of the Anglo-Saxon and early medieval periods.
