Derby at War

Derby at War presents a superb collection of over 200 images supported by informative captions. Together they portray the experiences of Derby people during the Second World War. This is not a definitive account of the war years, but an attempt to recapture the atmosphere during what was perhaps the most important period in Britains recent history a time when our nations towns and villages fought for their very survival against a determined enemy, in a war that directly touched the lives of everyone. Many of these images are rare and so offer a unique glimpse into these bygone days. Names and dates are provided where possible, revealing historical and anecdotal detail that gives life to the scenes and personalities captured through the camera lens.
