Recensioner i media
"The conversation with an author’s path-breaking ideas can continue beyond their death - as is the case in this fine volume of essays in honor of James Bowman. Covering topics from the sound of blues to counter-hegemonic articulation, from speech act theory to transnational feminism and transnational democracy, these engaging essays show the lasting legacy of Bohman’s contribution to critical theory and deliberative democracy. What unites them is a deep concern for human dignity, plurality, and dialogue, and the question of how democratic practices and institutions can protect them against old and new inhumane forces.”Lisa Herzog, Professor of Political Philosophy, University of Groningen, Netherlands.“Bringing together work by both star and rising scholars spanning four continents, this volume inaugurates a fascinating and overdue conversation around James Bohman’s pathbreaking innovations across national and international democratic theory, the philosophy of social science, critical social theory, and pragmatist epistemology. Addressing a remarkably wide range of subjects—including the blues, dialogues between scientists and laypersons, deliberative democracy, artificial intelligence, conspiracy theories, social movements, feminism, global democracy, and football’s FIFA—these essays demonstrate the fecundity of Bohman’s crucial insights. For those interested in interdisciplinary social thought with an emancipatory intent, this volume will be essential reading.”Christopher F. Zurn, Professor of Philosophy, University of Massachusetts, Boston, USA.
