David Elstein received his Ph.D. in Chinese thought from the University of Michigan. He is currently associate professor of philosophy and Asian studies at SUNY New Paltz, and has previously been a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Chinese Literature and Philosophy at Academia Sinica in Taiwan.
