As a former Deputy Head teacher of aprimary school, Sue had a passion for fostering a love of reading and writingin children. She had three books published locally for use in schools,including a children’s story, an anthology of children’s poems and a teacher’shandbook. Suealso helped to lead the Waverton Good Read Award for many years working withpublishers and debut authors. This involved community and school membersreading and then voting for their favourite novel each year. The winning authorreceived a £1000 prize, some of the winners include Gail Honeyman and MarkHaddon. Sue workedas a BBC consultant for many years editing material, including play scripts,for their primary resources website. She has also had a few poems published. Suewas inspired to write this book when, during her search for her natural mother,she found some newspaper articles about her trials and arrest for theft. Afterfurther research, Sue uncovered her mother’s story and wanted to bring it tolife. When not writing, Sue enjoys pursuing her hobbies of photography,abstract art, drinking gin and swimming. She lives near Chester with herhusband and has four children and four grandchildren.
