Beskrivning
Critical Theory in Revolt tells the story of the student organizers who revived the Frankfurt School's antifascist ideas in the 1960s to fight imperialism, prisons, and patriarchy. For activists such as Angela Davis and Hans-Jürgen Krahl, the Frankfurt School's archive held lessons for liberation struggles the world over. By tracing this grassroots transformation of ideas, Cecilia Sebastian frees critical theory from the confines of academia to reclaim its place in a tradition of social critique dedicated to emancipation.

Recensioner i media

Critical Theory in Revolt is a much-needed antidote to prevailing misconceptions about the Frankfurt School's relationship to the New Left and its place in political history. In this carefully-researched work, Sebastian introduces us to the Frankfurt School's other "Third Generation" of 1960s student radicals who stayed true to the emancipatory promise of critical theory. A must-read for anyone interested in this tradition of Marxist thought.
