Dr. Zhan Ye is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he serves as the Section Director of Transfusion Service and Medical Director of the Blood Bank. Since 2023, Dr. Ye has also served as Medical Director of the Community Blood Center of Greater Kansas City, a New York Blood Center Enterprises division. Dr. Ye is active in clinical transfusion medicine, apheresis practice, and medical education. His research focuses on transfusion safety, patient blood management, blood donation, and new treatments in transfusion and biotherapy. He published 33 scientific and clinical peer-reviewed papers, 14 abstracts, and one book chapter and gave 35 national/international meeting presentations. As a co-investigator, he participates in NIH-funded research on the pathogenesis and treatment of TTP and COVID-associated hypercoagulopathy. He is on the Editorial Board of Frontiers in Immunology and a reviewer for several journals in transfusion medicine and apheresis practice. Dr. Zheng is a physician-scientist passionate about patient care, education, and innovative research. His research focuses on understanding the mechanism of normal and abnormal blood coagulation. His research team has published more than 140 manuscripts in high-quality and peer-reviewed journals. His laboratory has been consistently supported by grants from the National Institute of Heart, Lung, and Blood. He served as associate editor for the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis and continues serving as the associate on three others. Dr. Zheng has been a standing member of the NIH-Hemostasis, Thrombosis, Blood Cells, and Transfusion study section for the past six years.
