Beskrivning

This October - for the first time ever - never-before-seen-objects from the Metropolitan Police's Crime Museum will go on public display in a major new exhibition opening at the Museum of London. Using original evidence from this extraordinary collection, The Crime Museum Uncovered willl unlock real-life case files to take the reader on an uneasy journey through some of the UK's most notorious crimes from Dr Crippen to the Krays, the Great Train Robbery to the Millennium Dome diamond heist. Giving voice to the real people behind these objects the book will consider the changing nature of crime and advances in detection over the last 140 years, as well as the challenges faced in policing the capital, such as terrorism, drugs and rioting.

Recensioner i media

'you won't look at everyday objects in the same way again after thumbing through this superb collection of crime memorabilia... provides a riveting overview not only of the variety of cases investigated by the Metropolitan Police, but also of how crime has evolved over the last 40 years' - The Daily Mail; 'One of the few problems with show is its size. There's simply too much to see and read in one ticketed visit. This companion book is an excellent solution. It includes full-colour photographs of most, if not all of the objects from the exhibition, with accompanying text - allowing you to browse through this unique collection of crime history at your leisure... well produced' - Londonist; 'this is a beautifully designed book. It's a good slab of a coffee-table book for its GBP12.99, and is visually striking. That's not just the front cover, but throughout - the page design is lovely, the choice of black/white/orange works extremely well, and I'd be proud to have written a book that is presented so well by the publisher' - Criminal Historian
