Cracking Creative Writing in KS1

Cracking Creative Writing in KS1 brings together over 75 tried-and-tested activities designed to help children in Years 1 and 2 grow as confident, imaginative writers.Through playful exploration of language, pupils are encouraged not just to write, but to enjoy writing - experimenting with grammar and punctuation in meaningful, creative ways. Each activity begins with a short stimulus - a poem or passage - to spark ideas and inspire children. Clear, step-by-step teacher notes then guide pupils towards producing their own writing that they can be genuinely proud of. Every task is carefully linked to the grammar, spelling and punctuation requirements of the National Curriculum, so you can be sure it supports key learning objectives. The activities are designed to fit comfortably within a single lesson, making them easy to slot into planning. They're also highly adaptable, with built-in suggestions for differentiation, so you can adjust tasks to suit a range of abilities.Best of all, children are often surprised by just how much they can achieve in a short space of time. The sense of success and enjoyment they gain helps them see writing not as a chore, but as something exciting, rewarding - and fun.Because writing matters. It matters to us as teachers, and it matters to children too. With the right tools and inspiration, they can not only succeed, but also discover the real joy of writing.
