What kind of scholarly field do the Digital Humanities constitute? Rather than attempting to draw that map from the outside, in a way seeking boundaries, a better way to answer that question might be to ask people who practise it and engage with the complexities of the many ideas, methods, and objects of inquiry that populate this space, one that refuses to be bound by a simple definition or disciplinary cubbyhole. This book brings together such conversations, and locates it within scholarly and activist practices of thinking and doing. The editors and authors bring to us insights and perspectives that allow readers to feel and think their way around the field, rather than be told what it is. This is a book that will appeal both to students and researchers who are trying to make sense of this nebulous but exciting intellectual space.- Usha RamanProfessor in the Department of Communication, University of Hyderabad. In the ever-growing body of literature on Digital Humanities in India, this collection offers an exceptional, unprecedented and highly welcome format that no one interested in the subject should miss! For the first time ever, systematic interviews with leading researchers and practitioners allow for an exclusive peek into their expert view of ‘Indian DH’ and developments at the intersections of technology, culture and society in India overall.- Zenia XeilerProfessor of South Asian Studies, University of Helsinki; Editor of Digital Hinduism and Co-Editor of several volumes and special journal issues on Digital Culture in Asia and beyond
