Confronting the Environmental Crisis: New Approaches in Architecture

Alexander Passer ist Professor für Nachhaltiges Bauen an der TU Graz. Seit 2 leitet er die Arbeitsgruppe Nachhaltiges Bauen, die sich mit Themen des Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA), dessen Anwendung im Entwurfsprozess und der Optimierung der Lebenszyklus-Performance von Gebäuden unter Berücksichtigung systemischer Wechselwirkungen beschäftigt. Alexander Passer ist österreichischer Delegierter in Komitees des CEN/TC35 und CEN/TC 442 sowie weiteren nationalen und internationalen Fachausschüssen. Seit 2 8 ist er Vorsitzender des Nachhaltigkeitsbeirats der TU Graz und im Vorstand des Climate Change Centre Austria (CCCA). Marcella Ruschi Mendes Saade ist Assistenzprofessorin am Institut für Tragwerksplanung der TU Graz. Sie schloss ihr Studium als Umweltingenieurin an der Bundesuniversität von Espírito Santo (2 ) ab und erwarb ihren MSc (2 3) und PhD (2 7) in Bauingenieurwesen an der Universität von Campinas, Brasilien. Sie arbeitete als Postdoktorandin am Interdisziplinären Forschungslabor für Ökobilanzierung (LCA) und Kreislaufwirtschaft (LIRIDE) der Universität Sherbrooke in Kanada (2 8-2 2 ). Sie hat an den EBC-Annexen 57 und 72 der Internationalen Energieagentur (IEA) mitgewirkt und ist seit Kurzem Untergruppenleiterin des IEA EBC-Annexes 89 – „Wege zur Implementierung von Gebäuden mit Netto-Null-Emissionen." Sie hat an Universitäten in Brasilien, Kanada und Österreich gelehrt. Alexander Passer holds the Endowed Professorship for Sustainable Construction at TU Graz. Since 2 he has been directing the Sustainable Construction Working Group. The working group focuses on Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA), its application in the design process, and the optimization of the life-cycle performance of buildings, taking into account systemic interactions. He is an Austrian delegate to the committees of CEN/TC35 and CEN/TC442, as well as other national and international committees. He has been chairman of TU Graz's　sustainability board since 2 8, and a board member of the Climate Change Centre Austria (CCCA) since 2 9. Marcella Ruschi Mendes Saade is a tenure-track assistant professor at the Institute of Structural Design at TU Graz. She graduated from the Federal University of Espírito Santo as an environmental engineer in 2 , and obtained an MSc (2 3) and PhD (2 7) in civil engineering at the University of Campinas, Brazil. She worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Interdisciplinary Research Laboratory in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Circular Economy (LIRIDE) at the University of Sherbrooke in Canada (2 8–2 2 ). Marcella was involved in the International Energy Agency (IEA) EBC Annexes 57 and 72, and most recently became a subtask leader in the IEA EBC Annex 89—Ways to implement Net Zero Whole Life Carbon buildings. She has taught at universities in Brazil, Canada, and Austria.
