Dr. Sandipan Bandyopadhyay is a Professor at the Department of Engineering Design, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. He received his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, in 1998, and his Master's as well as Doctoral degree from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in 2000 and 2006, respectively, both in the discipline of Mechanical Engineering. He also obtained an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, in 2001. He worked as a Researcher in the India Science Lab, General Motors R&D, during 2005-07. In 2007 he joined IIT Madras, where he teaches courses in mechanical design, mechanisms, and robotics. His research interests include Theoretical and Computational Kinematics, Parallel Manipulators, Design of Socially Relevant Products, and Symbolic Computations. He currently serves as the Vice President of the Association for Machines and Mechanisms. He also represents India in the IFToMM Technical Committees on Computational Kinematics as well as Robotics and Mechatronics. He serves as an Associate Editor in the journals Sādhanā and Robotica. Dr. Gökhan Kiper is currently a Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Izmir Institute of Technology, Izmir. He obtained his B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering and B.Sc. in Mathematics from Middle East Technical University, Ankara. His research focuses on kinematic analysis and synthesis of mechanisms with an emphasis on deployable structures and parallel mechanisms. Dr. Kiper received the IFToMM Fellowship award in 2019. He has been the chair of Turkish Machine Theory Association (member organization of IFToMM) since 2020.
