In the introduction, Siuda addresses two issues relating to Egyptology and the book’s contents. Firstly, they note that the conventional academic Egyptology refers to the Egyptian Netjeru (the ancient word for plural Egyptian deities) in the past tense as somehow ‘unworthy of worship today’. Secondly, Siuda acknowledges Egyptology’s colonial past and continued de-centering of Egyptian voices in academic discourses about their own culture.
