'!a wealth of very relevant and topical information for a wide audience.' -- Patti Simonson, British Journal of Social Work 'An updated edition of Means and Smith's Community Care is always something to look forward to, and this fourth revision does not disappoint...Richard Titmuss said "reality starts with a sense of history". This book eloquently illustrates this. It combines a sweep of contemporary and historical policy analysis with detail of practice development in community care. This title should be a core text for all students of social work and social policy.' - Dr Angie Ash, Professional Social Work Reviews of previous editions: 'An excellent introduction to, and summary of, both the historical origins of community care, and current and emerging issues.' - Melanie Henwood, Community Care '[A] balanced assessment... highly readable, useful and reasonably-priced. I would advise a student to purchase a copy and all health and social care practitioners to have access to it.' - Peter Nolan, Mental Health Practice '[A] comprehensive overview of community care...The text is well presented using a good range of examples... For practitioners new to the community, it is an essential read.' - Susan Hamer, Primary Health Care
