Communication of Jealousy

Jennifer L. Bevan (PhD, University of Georgia) is an associate professor of communication studies at Chapman University. Her research examines difficult interactions such as jealousy, serial arguments, uncertainty, and distance caregiving. She has published over 35 articles in such journals as Communication Monographs, Human Communication Research, and Communication Research.

«Dr. Bevan provides a meticulous summary of the jealousy expression research. The chapters focusing on psychological and communicative theories are especially insightful, and include a new model, jealousy expression profile theory, which helps organize research on communicative responses to jealousy. This book is essential reading for scholars and students interested in jealousy.» (Laura Guerrero, Arizona State University)«Bevan’s work heralds a maturing of jealousy research within the communication discipline. It provides the most up-to-date, comprehensive overview available of the jealousy and jealousy expression literatures. More than simply summarizing previous research, Bevan makes an original contribution to the study of jealousy with her communication-focused thesis. [...] I anticipate the book will take its place alongside older seminal works [...] as a ‘must-read’ on the topic of jealousy.» (Timothy Ryan Worley, Southern Communication Journal 80.1, 2015)
