A critical guide to Virginia Woolf and Ireland based on primary sources, designed as a scholarly resource for literary and complementary analyses of Woolf’s writings. Set in the context of a newly independent Ireland, the focus is on Virginia and Leonard Woolf’s Irish tour (28 April-8 May 1934). The Woolfs’ first visit to Ireland, the journey undertaken, people and places encountered, impressions of Ireland and the Irish point to the main themes and drive the arc of the narrative.
