Clinical Supervision for the Helping Professionals: A Practical Workbook is designed to help those in the helping professions working toward or supervising someone working toward a clinical license. The text inspires discussion, actively prepares both supervisors and supervisees, and encourages critical thought at each step of the licensing process. The first section of the workbook addresses licensing laws and processes, theoretical frameworks, ethical dilemmas, and supervisor competency. The second section, developed for supervisees, covers differences in expectations between interns and workers, supervisee expectations, and early practice issues. The final section contains information for supervisors, including tips for preparing to supervise, developing a supervision style, applying theory to individual cases, and addressing emergencies and ethical violations. Throughout, case studies help connect theory to practice, and readers are encouraged to consider thought-provoking reflective questions and then record their reflections and observations.Written in a conversational style, Clinical Supervision for the Helping Professions is an ideal workbook for courses and programs in social work, psychology, school counselling, and clinical supervision.
