This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Cellular Automata for Research and Industry, ACRI 2002, held in Geneva, Switzerland in October 2002. The 31 revised full papers presented together with 3 invited paper were carefully reviewed and selected from around 50 submissions.
